It is with both grief and gratitude that we share the news that Hannah Rose Moody was welcomed into the arms of Jesus while hiking near the McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale, Arizona — just one week before her 32nd birthday.
While her passing leaves a deep ache in the hearts of her family and friends, they take comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the true home she had sought with her whole heart throughout her life.
Hannah was born in Livermore, California, to John and Terri Moody, the youngest of three children and the cherished little sister to her big brothers, Joel and Ethan.
From the start, her vibrant personality and zest for life shone through. She brought an extra spark to family gatherings, a mix of determination, compassion, and adventure that would define her years ahead.
After graduating from Granada High School in 2011, Hannah attended Concordia University-Irvine and later Chapman University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology.
Her dedication to health and fitness didn’t stop with her studies — she trained as a bodybuilder, winning multiple competitions. She worked both in gyms and online as a personal trainer, pouring her energy into helping others reach their goals.
Friends and clients alike recall her fierce determination, her uplifting encouragement, and her unique ability to listen deeply and motivate without judgment.
Hannah’s adventurous spirit led her to live a nomadic post-college life, calling several cities home over the years — Los Angeles, San Diego, Austin, Tempe, and Charleston.
Wherever she went, she formed strong, lasting connections. She was equally passionate about traveling, visiting far-flung destinations such as Peru, Ireland, Costa Rica, Australia, Bali, and Vietnam. No matter where she roamed, she was always up for a trip to Disneyland, embracing life with childlike wonder.
In both her physical travels and her spiritual journey, Hannah was a seeker. She explored the world with open eyes and an open heart, eventually finding her faith in God — a discovery that transformed her life.
She began sharing her story of redemption with everyone she encountered, both in person and through her growing online presence. Under the Instagram handle @itshanrose, she amassed nearly 50,000 followers, inspiring many with her posts about faith, fitness, hiking, and life lessons.
Scottsdale, Arizona, became her final earthly home — a place where she was thriving, working as a restaurant server while continuing to influence and inspire online.
She loved the Arizona mountains, often setting out on hikes to chase sunrises and sunsets. For Hannah, nature was more than scenery — it was a reminder of God’s beauty and love, which she sought to share with others in both word and action.
Her compassion extended beyond her immediate circle. Even those who knew her only through social media were touched by her words, her laughter, and her authenticity. She was the type of person who would pay for someone’s coffee, hug a stranger’s dog, or pause to offer encouragement in a moment of need.
Hannah is survived by her parents, John and Terri of Livermore, CA; her brothers Joel (Kate) Moody of Osceola, IN, and Ethan (Sierrah) Moody of Bothell, WA; her niece Elizabeth and nephews Josiah, James, and Emmaus; her grandparents Fred Moody of Turlock, CA, and Owen and Shirley Halleen of Sioux Falls, SD; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins spread across the United States. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Phyllis Moody.
A memorial service celebrating Hannah’s life will be held on June 17, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Cedar Grove Community Church in Livermore, CA. In her honor, donations can be made to International Justice Mission (www.ijm.org) or Hope Women’s Center (https://hopewomenscenter.org) — organizations close to Hannah’s heart.
Those wishing to remember her in everyday ways can simply do what she so often did: buy someone a coffee, hug a dog, or take a moment to watch the sun rise or set.
